  2. Grate the yam pieces using a grater or a food processor fitted with a grating blade. If using a food processor, pulse the yam until it is finely grated, but be careful not to overprocess it.
  3. Transfer the grated yam to a large bowl and mix it with water to form a thick paste. Use about 1/2 cup of water for every 2 cups of grated yam.
