MySchoolpress would like to inform the general public, particularly parents and prospective undergraduate students, that the National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria has recently released a list of illegal degree-awarding universities in Nigeria. These universities are also known as ‘Degree Mills.’ This information is essential for the public to be aware of as it will help them make informed decisions when choosing an institution of higher learning.

Here is a list of the illegal universities in Nigeria:

  7. University of Industry, Yaba, Lagos or any of its other campuses

Universities Under Investigation And/or Are Facing Ongoing Legal Action

In addition to their impending closure, it has come to our attention that several Degree Mills are currently under investigation and/or are facing ongoing legal action. The primary aim of these actions is to hold accountable the proprietors of these institutions and recover any illicit fees or charges they may have collected from their subscribers.

Some of the institutions currently under investigation include

  1. National University of Nigeria, Keffi, Nasarawa State
  2. North Central University, Otukpo. Benue State
  3. Christ Alive Christian Seminary and University, Enugu
  4. Richmond Open University, Arochukwu, Abia State.
  5. West Coast University, Umuahia.
  6. Saint Clements University, Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State
  7. Volta University College, Aba, Abia State.
  8. Illegal Satellite Campuses of Ambrose Alli University.
  9. L.I.F.E Leadership University, Benin City, Edo State.

It is worth noting that any individual who chooses to patronise or obtain a certificate from any of these illegal institutions does so at their own risk. Certificates obtained from these sources will not be recognised for the purposes of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), employment, or further academic pursuits.

We have notified the relevant law enforcement agencies about these fraudulent practices and will continue to cooperate with them to ensure that the necessary actions are taken to bring these perpetrators to justice.
